Let’s Talk Trucking with Les!!

WHAT IS TRUCKING?

Trucking is possibly the most rewarding way to get paid in my opinion. It is being in control of 18 wheels and possibly up to 80,000 pounds of product that you haul. That is just if you haul what is called a dry van, over size and heavy haul can haul far more than that.

What is it like to be a driver?

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be a truck driver? Making your own money in the cab of those amazing machines out on the road? I did. It was a dream of mine since I was 10. Optimus Prime, WHAT A BODY right? Just me? Fair enough, let’s move on.

  1. Hi les, I just had a look at your website and in particular your “Trucking Information article!
Wow, very interesting to read it! You know we take so much for granted in this world and it’s only when one reads a great description as you have so eloquently written that one has a better understanding of the industry!

As you mentioned, it was a dream from early childhood and the fact that you succeeded is tantamount to your tenacity!

I have brief knowledge of the industry since my grandson is a driver of “Trucks”, notice that I hate the generic term of “truck driver”, it doesn’t explain the definition adequacy! I can’t give you all the details of what vehicles he drives, but they are huge, you need a stepladder to get into the driver’s seat and once seated behind the steering wheel, one realizes how massive they are. They’ve an untold number of gears to go through which staggered me when he told me. We’re in Western Australia and he regularly travels 3,000 k’s on round trips and often has three trailers so they called road trains over here and can be away for days on end sometimes!

But I like your description, probably a bit more technical information would help the uninitiated. Let’s face it, it’s a huge industry and I imagine another couple of pages would easily be possible. Go into the detail, another industry is always of interest to other people.

    1. Thanks Sidney! I appreciate the read!! I would be happy to add more content. I am just getting started. I appreciate you messaging me. Is there anything you would want to see or know about? Maybe I can help?
      Thanks again,
      Leslie
